Ooow - that is VERY kind of them. If you DO have a chance to get the hard copy, the cover is utterly wickles. You can almost read by the glow.

It got a wonderful reception at the Multi Media screening tonight. Joe gave a little introduction. He's working so hard on this. He'll certainly deserve his holiday when his 12 weeks at 6 are up.

One thing though, I'm a little confused. Don't you say "block" in England? As in Tower Block or Block of Flats? I know Americans use block slightly differently, like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_block

but it was my understanding that the block in Attack the Block referred to a block of flats in the UK sense?

It does, yeah, but it's not entirely natural. We'd say 'estate' in much the same way as you guys say 'projects'. So really it should be Attack the Estate.

Not a big deal - just seemed like a slight allusion to the (much larger) US market.

Ah fair enough, I'm not American myself though, I'm from Dublin so generally we'd have the same expressions as you guys. Generally I wouldn't have a problem calling a big tall building of council flats a "block" like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballymun_tower_blocks
for me a council estate would be more like a large area with lots and lots of small terrace/semi-detached council houses.
anyway, it doesn't matter. I get what you're talking about.

says it's "chiefly british" usage. To my mind, if they were trying to appeal to the American market they would have called it "Attack the Projects" like you said.

The very, very early title for the film was Attack the Estate, I believe. I suspect they felt 'Block' was more pithy and would probably resonate more with a potential US market. That said, there are countless glorious shots of The Block in the film to pull your mind back into where it's meant to be. It even has it's own musical identity.
