Adam updated his own blog today by writing an open letter to David Bowie inviting him to appear on his Big Mixtape show. This will be wonderful coup for Adam and surely, after all this time Mr Bowie will find a way to make it happen.
I’m not a physical or mental threat and the show would be recorded at the BBC with responsible humans around and would take only an hour of your time so what’s the worst that could happen?! Best case scenario: we make a memorable radio show that thousands of highly intelligent 6 Music listeners will cherish! Worst case scenario, you find me an unctuous prat and make a mental note never to respond to online petitions for your guest services again (though you may have already made that mental note). If you don’t want to be alone in a studio with me, we could ask Joe to come too!
The blog entry also includes Chris Salt’s amazing Lego version of “Changes” and he rounds it off with a Labyrinth audition tape!
Adam has also uploaded an hilarious video he made with David OReilly in 2007 giving a tutorial on some scriptwriting software.
Reports from our forum members suggest that Adam has made a video for his live shows that will eventually go on his channel.

Public Booking for the May sessions of BUG go on sale at 11:30am on 13th April 2010.
They are both at 8:45pm on the nights of Thursday 20th & 27th of May 2010. The latter is the “Director’s Cut” which is slightly shorter because it doesn’t have a guest director. More time in the bar with that one!
Now firmly established as one of London’s best nights out. Join us for a tantalising blend of brilliant music video, expert comment and off-the-cuff hilarity courtesy of host extraordinaire Adam Buxton. A positive smorgasboard of miniature cinematic gems from some of the most talented emerging directors will be on show, and the fun doesn’t stop there, as our resident BUG DJs will be providing aural stimulation in the Benugo lounge till late.
Find out more here or go straight to the BUG19 Booking Page.
A BUG Special dedicated to UNKLE has also been organised for Friday 7th May 2010.
More details are available on the BFI website, or see below:
With James Lavelle a central figure in an ever-evolving line up, UNKLE have become a uniquely influential and innovative creative force. Working consistently with outstanding directors and visual artists, the group have produced a body of work that includes some of the most powerful combinations of music and moving image of the last two decades. BUG is therefore delighted to mark the brand new UNKLE album, Where Did the Night Fall?, with a big-screen retrospect on the band’s output in moving image – including the astonishing video for Eye for an Eye, by animators Shynola – who started their careers working with Lavelle – and Jonathan Glazer’s video for Rabbit in Your Headlights, alongside such more recent works as the highly-rated Heaven by Spike Jonze and Ty Evans, and Miguel Sapochnik’s Burn My Shadow. Inimitable BUG host Adam Buxton will present a special programme of UNKLE videos, tour visuals and rarities, and will be joined on stage by special guests, including James Lavelle. Following the show, BFI Southbank’s regular AV club event, Dark Fibre, will be headlined by a DJ set from UNKLE, plus a special line-up of audiovisualists playing late in the foyer and Benugo bar.

Adam will join Liza Tarbuck as they cover for Jonathan Ross on BBC Radio 2 for the next two Saturdays (3rd April & 10th April, 10am-1pm).
Liza Tarbuck and Adam Buxton begin a two-week stint sitting in for Jonathan Ross. Guests today include Robin Cousins plus live music from Lucinda Belle
And Adam’s brand new 6 Music show, Adam Buxton’s Big Mix Tape, begins tomorrow at midday, with special guest Julian Barrett.
Of course, this will clash with 6Music’s Adam and Joe’s Easter Highlights Show. We can’t be sure if the Radio 2 show will be live but it might be what he was recording last weekend which delayed his attendance at the protest.
Liza is very busy at the moment and is currently also recording a radio sit-com with Kevin Eldon who is appearing as his Paul Hamilton character.
Finally, Adam Buxton’s Big Mix Tape will have an associated podcast. Please subscribe and put it in the top ten charts.

Put your choccie eggs down and take a listen to Adam and Julian Barratt on Easter Sunday. The new Sunday schedule at 6 Music has been released here.
I think we can safely assume that the bosses were impressed enough by the first ‘pilot’ that, even before airing they have commissioned a series.
Adam Buxton, one half of 6 Music’s award-winning Adam & Joe, also starts his new show on Easter Sunday. Adam Buxton’s Big Mix Tape (12.00midday-2.00pm) takes a weekly topic or theme and makes a compilation tape for listeners to share.
Adam’s first guest on the inaugural show will be the Mighty Boosh’s Julian Barratt.
New Sunday schedule in full:
7.00-10.00am: George Lamb
10.00-12.00pm: Cerys Matthews
12.00pm -2.00pm: Adam Buxton’s Big Mix Tape
2.00-4.00pm: Huey Morgan
4.00-6.00pm: Jarvis Cocker’s Sunday Service
6.00-8.00pm: Stuart Maconie’s Freak Zone
8.00-10.00pm: 6 Mix
10.00pm-12.00midnight: Guy Garvey’s Finest Hour
12.00midnight-1.00am: Don Letts’ Culture Clash Radio
Bob Shennan, Controller, Radio 2 and 6 Music, says: “The new Sunday schedule offers a unique line-up of trusted guides to shine a light on hidden corners of the music world.
“With the addition of Cerys Matthews, Adam Buxton and the 6 Mix, 6 Music now promises to offer a distinctive day of eclectic music, presented by incredibly passionate and knowledgeable people, that I’m sure the listeners will enjoy.”
Here’s a bit more details about the first episode of Adam Buxton’s Big Mix Tape:
Adam Buxton’s Big Mix Tape – Mix Tape 1: Øddens
Easter Sunday 4 April
12.00noon-2.00pm BBC 6 MUSIC
Sunday lunchtimes on BBC 6 Music see one half of the award-winning Adam And Joe going solo on radio for the first time. With the help of the listeners, Adam Buxton’s Big Mix Tape will take a weekly topic or theme and make a compilation tape for all to share. The first Mix Tape is called Øddens and is based around weird yet accessible music – created by both well-known and less-well-known artists.
Adam’s first guest is a man who also made his name as part of a successful double act – Julian Barratt from The Mighty Boosh. Adam says: “Julian is not only one of my favourite actor/comedians but is a big music fan himself and likes weird music almost as much as he loves jazz.”
A wonderfully eclectic musical selection includes Radiohead, Can, Vangelis, Kate Bush, Silver Apples, Scott Walker, Grace Jones, Captain Beefheart and, of course, David Bowie.
Presenter/Adam Buxton, Producer/James Stirling
Don’t forget Adam has requested ideas for the next two shows that he’ll be recording on Thursday so check the BBC 6Music Blog and get your suggestions in fast.
