Adam and Joe fansite forum

I'm building a site in WordPress and wondered what other website owners use as their forum software?

Obviously adamandjoe.com uses phpbb - but have you tried any of the alternatives?

Any opinions or advice?

Tried out a fair few of these on localhost installs and I think phpbb is still probably my favourite... even though integration with WordPress is probably not possibly - it's easier to have the forum as a separate entity I reckon - much like we have on a+j.com

vBulletin and Invision Power Board look the nicest but they cost $300+ per license ($149 for IVP)
