How to record iPlayer etc.?

Postby thaitanic » Wed Mar 02, 2011 5:29am

With the impending return of A&J I need to find out how to record stuff from the BBC iPlayer? Anyone got any tips? Is there a special program to do that or is there something that just records what goes through my sound card? cheers

Audacity can record 'what you hear' on your PC

it's free

I used Audacity as well and it's pretty good.

What's the best way to record video though? I wondered about recording Joe's bit in Film 2011. I think I've used Hypercam in the past but it has an annoying watermark.

Ah, if Audacity can do it then Sound Forge can, and I own that. Thanks.

Nerdoftheherd sounds perfect. I will probably test both options shortly before the season starts.

Thanks!

erm - there are apps out there that let you download the file itself......but the BBC really don't like anyone doing that so I'll leave it to you to search. It's much quicker than recording something in real time.

Cheers. Downloading Saturday's show with it now. Anyone know what the native bitrate of the highest quality iPlayer audio stream is? 128kbs? I want to get the stream without any recompression if possible for editing but this looks like it's going to do a recompression with LAME.
