Having looked a bit closer at posts 1 and 2 of this thread, the majority of the links are for 4shared - so not to worry I guess.

The only Rapidshare links were in the Big Mixtape section (I've removed them now as they pointed to a 404)

Ideally everything would be on archive.org -- is there anyone out there (other than namesinspace) that can help upload them. There must be A&J fans who have a fast upload connection?

Here's an old folder on Mediafire that still seems to be working:

Adam and Joe 6Music Show
http://www.mediafire.com/?c29x5jc60l9ar

download links work I think, but wouldn't let me listen via their site
loads of pop-up adverts though on that site (even with Adblock installed on Chrome)

I've made some changes again to the 6Music radio show page

I don't think having a huge list of streamable Archive.org embeds is going to work. I think that page is already around 2.9MB to load up (and that's with only about 15 shows) so maybe each streamable embed will need to be on a separate page (?)

Those Mediafire files are by one of the original uppers/editors from the LiveJournal. It's good to know they are still up there.

I'm sure I can get the MixTapes back up into Archive. I have a much better connection these days but not much time.

Rather than have the embeds on separate pages, couldn't you just link the Archive files? It would get quite lumpy if there were individual pages for each. I guess they could be grouped in months or something.

just found this old thread that links through to these XFM clips below....

The Adam & Joe afternoon play 1/3 (XFM broadcast 22.05.2004)
The Adam & Joe afternoon play 2/3 (XFM broadcast 29.05.2004)
The Adam & Joe afternoon play 3/3 (XFM broadcast 05.06.2004)

Did the YouTube poster ever turn up more material?

edit- just read through the post and the guy that posted the YouTube clips (benjamin308) gave us 3 early XFM shows (12.06.2004, 02.10.2004 and 20.11.2004). Unicorn! created edits from these.

Unfortunately benjamin308's hard drive died, and it looks like he last visited the forum Feb 2010 (show all posts)

Just thinking -- for the dead links on the forum I might try and go through and use the 'code' phpbb styling to replace a clickable link in to one like I've used here so people aren't wasting their time clicking on Rapidshare and Humyo 404's

This is what the code styling looks like

Code: Select all
Here is an example link:

After an unfortunate "itunes deleting all my podcasts incident " I had to go back and get all of the old podcasts. also gave me the chance to get all of the edited episodes.
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who still uploads and maintains these , it is really appreciated!!!!
It took ages to get them all back - it was worth it. :)

THANK YOU!

Some new treasure uploaded to Adam Buxton's Soundcloud - the 20 XFM podcasts
Are these the same files we already have, or are these different quality?

Hello, Adam Buxton here.

In 2006 Joe and I put out 20 short podcasts which included conversational moments from our first ever radio show, on London's Xfm, Saturday mornings on and off between 2004 - 2006. As pickings from the radio show were often slim, we'd record other bits in our own time. Even then we'd keep it short.

This first episode (our first ever foray into podcasting) is really just a couple of chunks from that week's radio show in which we swapped summer anecdotes, talked 'Euro Trip' and tried to come up with 'Crazy Frog' type trends.

When we were at Xfm I would 'drive the desk' and Joe would do most of the talking. I would then edit the podcasts together and have fun adding sound effects and such. There's not much of that in this this first episode however. It sounds as though I either have a cold or I am hung over. Possibly both.

Yours

Adam Buxton (2014)

Thanks to Xanthe Fuller, Lila Dowie and Matt Everitt

episode 1 is 23.8MB on Soundcloud

Looks like the same size as the one we have on 4shared (?)

hobbsy wrote:I'm wondering if there's any interest in a 'listen again' section on the forum, whereby we could create a post for each show and embed the Archive audio on the first post. People could then discuss the show, and maybe help to catalogue/transcribe what happens in each episode. I just listened to the first 2 Keaveny shows to test out the embeds on the long list.

Maybe transcribing would be a bit OTT/mental, but maybe a few shows notes for each episode would help us track down "what show was that in" type of questions

Well I'm not sure how much detail people would want, but since I'm listening to them round the clock at the moment (should I even admit to this?) I'm certainly willing to at least discuss this idea as I may currently be in a position to add to a thread like this. Maybe not every day as that might be a bit mentile, but certainly occasionally as required - let me know if you kick this off. As a minimum it could be:

Summary of talking points in order
    Birth of features
    Summary of features
Bits where Buckles explodes with rage (a personal fave)

All with timecodes so people could jump to the bits they are after. I say this because for example I'd love a timecode for the XFM podcast where they improvise the song 'message room' and it all goes a bit wrongaloid :D
