Looking for 'The Queen' talking to Bruce from Zimbabwe

Postby skizziks willit » Thu Jan 12, 2017 4:58pm

Hello,

Registered on this forum just to ask one question of anyone who knows the BBC 6music podcasts inside out.

In one of them was a short sequence based on an email from a listener called Bruce who came from Zimbabwe. If I recall he was emailing the radio show to say he was going to miss the A+J show because he had to go back to Zim. Then 'The Queen' launched into a reply... "Oh Bruce, lorra lorra lolly.. why go back Zimborbway?" etc etc

This was highly amusing to me as not only do I love 'The Queen' but I'm from Zimbabwe originally and so is my brother... Bruce. But it wasn't him, just a weird coincidence. I was telling my other brother about this recently and he reckoned he knew the podcasts well and doesn't recall this bit, and would have done for the same reasons as me. He reckons I've made it up.

Please tell me I haven't made up this memory, and if not does anyone remember which podcast it was on? I don't want to listen to all of them for a 3 minute segment just to prove my brother wrong.

Thanksloveyoubye!

could it have been in the 3-hour live show, rather than the edited podcast?

I'm sure namesinspace will have an answer for you on this

Definitely the podcast (assuming I haven't gone mad and invented this) as I never was able to listen to the radio show and only listened to the podcasts.

Adam lapsed into The Queen at the drop of a hat so I don't remember the specifics but he only started doing the queen later on. It might be in the 2011 run.

Well, I'm pleased to report I'm not going mad. It was in the outro to the 'These boots were made for weeing' podcast!

Hi Hobbsy. I don't know how I have missed this reply. Those links are not the ones in our compendium. I wish they'd existed when we put that lot together. It would have saved a lot of time and effort with the older stuff
So far as the more recent podcasts are concerned, I felt it was only right to put the BBC links there.
